This is one of the newest slicing scissors from HIKARI

It’s a very forgiving scissor but the interesting part is that the forgiveness changes depending on where I use the blade

Around the middle of the blade the forgiveness is only about 10% so I can still keep enough control and create the shape properly

As I move toward the tip it gradually becomes more forgiving, up to around 50%, so the hair starts to escape more and more

I mainly use this for Butterfly Layers, Face Framing, Jaw Framing and long bangs

For Butterfly Layers especially, I don’t want the hair to escape too much at the beginning because I still need to build the layer properly

But toward the ends I want the hair to escape more so I don’t create a hard line

That’s where this scissor works really well

I can keep the shape through the middle, then make the ends softer and slightly longer as I move out

It’s not a scissor I use for everything

It has a very specific job, but for this kind of layering and framing work, I really like it

This is one of the newer scissors from HIKARI

The biggest difference with this one is the material

HIKARI uses the hardest material they have ever used for a scissor, so even with very thick or very hard hair it cuts straight through without that heavy feeling coming back into my hand

A lot of scissors are made to become a little more forgiving toward the tip

Even when you cut straight, the hair starts to escape a little near the end of the blade, which makes the feeling softer in the hand

This one is different

When I cut straight, it cuts straight all the way through

Very clean
Very direct
Almost no escape at the tip

That is why I really like it for blunt bangs and basic cutting

When I’m doing a proper basic haircut section by section, the rhythm feels really good with this scissor

The feedback I get through my hand is very crisp and I really like that feeling

It’s not a soft scissor

If you like the blade to become softer and more forgiving toward the end, this probably won’t be your favorite

But if you like that clean solid feeling where the hair just cuts exactly where you put the blade, this one is really satisfying to use

For me it’s mostly a basic cutting scissor and actually quite an all rounder for that kind of work

The only limitation is the length

The longest size is 6.25 inches, so I don’t really use it for Deep Point Cutting or Reverse Cutting

For those techniques I personally prefer a 7 inch scissor

But for basic cutting, blunt bangs and clean section work, I really like this one
